Hi ZipLawyer! Welcome to our first deep dive on how Labour's Election win will impact law firms and their clients.

Today, we focus on the Real Estate sector and we discuss Labour's key plans and how they impact law firms so you can ace your applications and interviews.

Housing and Planning

House building in the UK is a struggle. Due to tough planning laws, the sector has been unable to meet the targets set by the Conservatives over the past few years.

Labour wants to change this. The party has set a goal of 1.5 million new homes by focusing on brownfield sites and fast-tracking urban developments. They also want to ensure 40% of new homes are affordable, including social and council housing.

Labour aims to build new towns with high standards for design and green spaces. They also plan to simplify compulsory purchase rules to make it easier to assemble land for housing and infrastructure projects.
